The A1-widthed piece I have been working on between many work hours, classes, training and cups of coffee was ready in time to celebrate the (secret number here)th year of … a decent human being.

It’s a clumsily-artistic interpretation of a very inaccurate outer-space “land”scape. After watching Elon Musk’s speech on populating Mars, I decided on making Denmark, my adoptive country, be the first ones there, sending this shiny Dane in an astronaut costume out to claim it. Very appropriately, he has a tiny crown on his head, representing the nobility of the pure-hearted and open-minded.

Exhibition Experience

A couple of months ago, a fellow artist invited me to introduce my work in a small exhibition at the art-collective she is a part of - RedDoor, Copenhagen. Therefore, I had 5 days to create something worth hanging on a wall next to the works of more talented and experienced artists.

This is what I came up with: “The Person” - a collection of three pastel drawings, each representing a part of what makes a human a person. The drawings are representative of emotion, mind and body, each composition having two elements - the extremities of each part.

from left to right:

Emotion. Serenity - the jellyfish - free, calm, one with the environment and Angst - the tentacle - active, controlling, cartilaginous. The marine motif is a metaphor for a the unknown; the aquatic world is something that we are aware of, we explore it, we have theories about it, but we cannot say that we have a certain grip on it; it is still a world out of reach. I feel that emotion is similar.

Mind. Creativity and Logic.

Body. Pleasure and Pain - the two sensations that can overpower us and bring us to our most vulnerable point.

Overall, it has been a rewarding experience; it gave me the confidence that I can further pursue my passion and that once in a while, things are worth the effort.

P.S.: digital renderings of the same concept coming soon.
